Mark Prior Update April 25

Mark Prior’s surgery apparently was a success.  Dr Andrew did find a few things and they were reportedly repaired.  From the Press release on www.Cubs.com
Mark Prior yesterday underwent successful right shoulder arthroscopy performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, AL. During the arthroscopy, Dr. Andrews performed a debridement of Mark’s right rotator cuff as well [...]

Mark Prior Update April 23

Well it seems doctors really can’t figure out what is wrong with Mark Prior.  He is going under the knife on Tuesday for a surgerical procedure to find out what exactly is going wrong with his shoulder.  This will effectively end his season.  If anyone still has Prior sitting on their fantasy team, now may [...]

Mark Prior Update April 12

I wouldn’t count on Mark Prior anytime soon.  The AP is reporting that Prior experienced shoulder pain during is extended spring training outing.  He had the leave the game after throwing only two innings.  He is going to see a shoulder specialist in hopes he can be righted.
I feel like a yo-yo with both Wood [...]

Mark Prior Update

Today’s game was called due to rain but not before we could get another look at Mark Prior.    I had previously counted out Mark Prior for the year but their is a smell of crow coming from the kitchen.  I’m still skeptical but boy did Mark look much better today.  The movement and speed of [...]

Weekend Update

I apologize to anyone who had to endure yesterday’s game.  If you missed it the Cubs were smoked by the angels 4-0.  Now that doesn’t sound too bad, but the Cubs could only manage 2 hits by Theriot and Izturis of all people.  Now on to other items…
 Carlos Zambrano
Carlos announced yesterday that he was close [...]

Here We Go Again

Wood is out for the next couples of days with a sore arm.  Apparently, he hurt himself pitching the last game when he changed his stride due to a hole in the mound.  If any other pitcher did this it probably wouldn’t even be news.  I’m not going to get bent out of shape over a [...]

Weekend Updates as Well as March 5th Game Summary

Over the weekend the Cubs continued their losing ways.  Well, at least they tied a game this time.  I guess that counts for something.  As always in spring training there is always good news with the bad news.  Here is a summary
The Good Saturday Vs. Athletics (Cubs 5, Athletics 5)
Michael Barrett went 2 for 2 [...]

Weekend Spring Training Happenings (Updated)

Kerry Wood
As expected Wood threw to live hitters on Saturday.  According to the Cubs official web-page Wood threw really well.
It wasn’t fun,” said McGehee, the first batter to see Wood. “He looks pretty good. When he’s telling you what’s coming and he can buckle you on a breaking ball, he’s got a pretty good one [...]

Spring Training Update: Prior, Wood and Sammy

Mark Prior
Mark Prior threw some batting practice on Thursday.  This could be the sign we are all looking for in regards to Priors health.  For one, by throwing batting practice the Cubs are not babying him so he’s likely not injured.  Two, if you recall last year Prior did not face any live hitters all [...]

The Rotation in 2007

I was hoping to be writing about how the Cubs have Reached a Deal with Carlos Zambrano.  Unfortunately, that was not to be.  I do have some good news though.  Here, as promised, is my positional breakdown of the Chicago Cubs.  As my article on new faces, I will try to avoid loading this up with [...]
