Jacque Jones Traded? Billy Petrick called up? Updated 9:00 est

Various radio stations and news sources are reporting that Jacque Jones has been traded to the Marlins.  I haven’t been able to find any official confirmation but with all the press this is getting I’d be shocked if it was just a rumor.

I’m actually pretty happy Jacque Jones is getting traded.  He was never really given a fair shake at Wrigley field.  The fans have been really hard on him since he signed here.  He’s been nothing but a solid contributor to the team and by all accounts a stand-up guy.  I hope the move is good for him.

Last link seems to indicate the cubs will be receiving a pitcher from A ball.

The best confirmation I can find is a piece by Ken Rosenthal located here.  He says the deal has hit a snag revolving around money.  He also indicated that as of 6 est Jones has not been informed of the trade.  UPDATE:  It looks like the deal at least for now has fallen apart due to the above mentioned snag.

In other news, The Cubs will call up right hander Billy Petrick once the Jacque Jones trade is finalized.  Petrick is 1-1 2.37 era and whip of .99.  He has struck out 33 and walked only 8 in 30.1 innings pitched.  UPDATE:  It appears Petrick has replaced Dempster on the roster.  Dempster was placed on the 15 day DL with a strained oblique.  To make room for Petrick on the 40 man, Wade Miller was moved to the 60 day DL.
