Brewers at Cubs June 30th

What a game…  Rich Hill struggled early and didn’t even make it to the 4th inning.  The Bullpen picked him up and shut out the good hitting Brewers the rest of the way.  A big kudos to Billy Petrick, Michael Wuertz, Carlos Marmol and Bob Howry for keeping the game close and giving the Cubs a [...]

Milestones

I was a bit late getting home today and was too late to get a blog up concerning the game going on as I type.  Unfortunately, the score is currently 5-0 in the 3rd inning…ugh.  In other news, there were two big milestones achieved yesterday.  Craig Biggio finally hit is 3000th hit and Frank Thomas [...]

BBPRO article on the Barrett Trade

The article is located here.
Here is a quick quote from the article
What bothers me, rather, is that the Cubs’ have developed a nasty habit under Jim Hendry’s tenure of doing everything in their power to degrade a player’s value, and then trading him for pennies on the dollar. The mere fact that the trade seems [...]

Rockies at Cubs June 27th

The Cubs will be going for win number 6 tonight against the Rockies.  It really seems like the Cubs can do no wrong at the moment.  I’m still in shock the Cubs gave up 6 runs in the 9th two days ago and still can back and won.  I think the Cubs are starting to [...]

Jacque Jones Traded? Billy Petrick called up? Updated 9:00 est

Various radio stations and news sources are reporting that Jacque Jones has been traded to the Marlins.  I haven’t been able to find any official confirmation but with all the press this is getting I’d be shocked if it was just a rumor.
I’m actually pretty happy Jacque Jones is getting traded.  He was never really [...]

Kerry Wood Update

Wood is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session today.  If Wood is able to throw without pain and has no setbacks he should be back on the mound by August.  Getting Wood back on the mound would be a huge lift for the struggling bullpen.  We all know how fragile Wood is so lets [...]

Padres at Cubs June 25th

I don’t have a lot of time to post tonight, so here’s a bare bones preview
Cub Vs Rockies
The Cubs are 63-61 all-time against the Rockies.  The Rockies beat up on the Cubbies last year winning 4 games in 6 tries.  The Cubs are entering the Game with a 3 game winning streak and the Rockies [...]

Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs WIN!

I wrote about it the other day but I really didn’t expect it to happen.  The Cubs swept the White Sox and evened the the all-time record between the two teams (30-30).  The Cubs took advantage of a struggling Sox lineup and outscored the Sox 10-2 over the series.  A very decisive victory.
Alfonso Soriano hit [...]

Cubs at White Sox June 22nd

It’s been a while since I’ve done a game preview thread.  It is time to get back to business.  Today, the Cubs will be taking on the struggling White Sox.  Back in May, the Cub’s took 2 of 3 games to take round one of the season series.  The Cubbies are looking to bounce back [...]

Sammy Sosa hits #600

I was really hoping Sammy would hit the homerun off the Cubs.  As stated before it would really be poetic justice.  In fact, It turned out to have a little extra poetry as the Pitcher he hit number 600 off (Jason Marquis), who is also the first Cub to wear Sammy’s old number 21.  Not [...]
