Cub’s game postponed due to Death in Cardinals Family.

Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock was killed Sunday morning in a car crash.  Thoughts and prays go out to his family.
I was going to post about how great the Cubs have been playing the last couple days but it seems inappropriate at the moment.

Sammy Sosa Update

Sammy Sosa hit two homeruns this afternoon.  He has now homered in his 44th ball park which is a new MLB record.  He was previously tied with Ken Griffey Jr, and Fred McGriff.  Sosa is now batting .239 on the year with 6 homeruns (tied for 3rd in the league) and 18 rbis.  He is hitting [...]

Mark Prior Update April 25

Mark Prior’s surgery apparently was a success.  Dr Andrew did find a few things and they were reportedly repaired.  From the Press release on www.Cubs.com
Mark Prior yesterday underwent successful right shoulder arthroscopy performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, AL. During the arthroscopy, Dr. Andrews performed a debridement of Mark’s right rotator cuff as well [...]

Statistical Fun Chapter 1: Introduction to Sabermetrics

Since I have about an hour before the game I thought I’d write a thing or two about stats.  Part of the appeal of baseball to me is all of the fun statistics.  If you look hard enough you can find a stat for everything.  That being said, some of these statistics are generally worthless [...]

Brewers at Cubs April 24th

What and ugly depressing game that was last night.  It seems the Cubs do this every time.  They take a lead early and then either the Starter or the Bullpen coughs it up in the middle innings.  The Cubs are now 7-12 on the season.  The good news (or bad news depending on your perspective) [...]

Special Thanks

A friend of mine, Michael Freske has created a better quality banner for the blog.  I think it looks much nicer than the old pixel infested picture I had before.  Thanks Mike!

Mark Prior Update April 23

Well it seems doctors really can’t figure out what is wrong with Mark Prior.  He is going under the knife on Tuesday for a surgerical procedure to find out what exactly is going wrong with his shoulder.  This will effectively end his season.  If anyone still has Prior sitting on their fantasy team, now may [...]

Cardinals at Cubs April 21st

That was certainly an interesting game last night.  Lilly once again threw a great game but the Cub’s offense in particular the base runners really let him down.  We had some odd plays with Cedeno getting thrown out on a walk and a triple play that was later downsized to just interference on Henry Blanco.  [...]

April 20th Cardinals at Cubs

This afternoon the Cubs take on their division rivals the St. Louis Cardinals.  Although the Cardinals went on to have a pretty good year (winning the world series and all), the Cubs had their number winning 11 games and losing 8.  This includes a 8-2 record (including sweeping two series) at Wrigley field.  This is [...]
